Property and regeneration specialist Hargreaves Land has made a senior appointment to support the firm’s growth in Scotland.
Niall McLean has joined the Glasgow office of Hargreaves Land as development director following three years with Hermiston Securities.
McLean, who brings over 25 years’ experience in residential and commercial development, will take a leading role at Blindwells, the sustainable new town located twelve miles outside of Edinburgh. The scheme, which extends to 158-hectares (390-acres) is already home to over 350 new residents and has consent for 1,600 homes.
Hargreaves Land is currently looking to secure planning permission from East Lothian Council for an extensive range of retail and leisure facilities at Blindwells, together with new business space.
A graduate of the University of Paisley with a Degree in Land Economics, Niall McLean has held senior roles at Robertson Partnership Homes and Macdonald Estates.
The appointment follows Hargreaves Land’s recent announcement that David Anderson will retire from his role as group property director in May, with Glasgow-based Bruce Linsday stepping up to assume the new role of land managing director.
Commenting on his new role, Niall McLean said: “I am thrilled to be joining Hargreaves Land at what is a very exciting time for the firm, and I am looking forward to the new challenge.”
“There is a tremendously talented team working across three offices and some incredible development opportunities in the pipeline.”
Bruce Lindsay added: “I am delighted to welcome Niall to the team and I am confident he will be a huge asset as we forge ahead with our investment at Blindwells. His tremendous experience in commercial and residential development will be integral to the growth of the business in Scotland over the coming years.”
